We realise that we are all learning and improving and so at Lazykate we are taking small steps to try to do better. Here's where we are.
Our yarn: We make every effort to source yarn that is ethically sourced with good husbandry practices. Our Bluefaced Leicester is from British suppliers via Chester Wools and our Merino is from non mulesed flocks.
Our yarn is spun in Peru by small communities, often lead by women. We are proud to be involved with Chester Wools who through their community projects are sponsoring the education of children and supporting rural mountain villages as they farm with traditional skills, allowing them to earn money without moving away from their rural communities. Postage and Packing: We use cardboard for our boxes and are in the process of changing our postal bags to a more ecological option. Keeping your box or yarn dry while it's in transit is obviously extremely important so we are sourcing the right bag for the job
Our dyes are acid dyes which are fixed with citric acid or vinegar. We make every effort to exhaust our dyes, if there is dye left in the pot we exhaust it with yarn to make sure we don't put dye into the water system. For 2021 we have new plans for greener options.
