Thank you so much for such an enjoyable two day course on learning how to weave. As a complete beginner, I was daunted by what I had always perceived as a difficult craft to master. However, the relaxed atmosphere of the class made it easy to learn with no pressure to keep up with the rest of the group.

Starting with a brief introduction to the terminology and the different types of rigid heddle looms, we immediately set to warping the looms and by the end of day one, had already started to weave. You gave clear instructions and built confidence in an unobtrusive manner and I ended the course with a beautiful piece of tactile work show-piecing many different patterns in the weave.

Learnt so much in the two days, going through the whole process, including warping up. I enjoyed experimenting with different textures and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this course to others.

  3. Charlotte (verified owner)

The two day class was brilliant. Well paced with two fantastic patient and knowledgeable teachers. I learned a lot and am keen to carry on weaving.

Thank you for this lovely review Charlotte, we really appreciate you taking the time to do this. We're so pleased you're going to carry on

From the knowledge, flexibility and patience Kate and Jessamy provide, to the great location with parking (even in downtown Liverpool!), excellent mochas and food, my 2 days on this workshop allowed me to do exactly what I had set out to do: find out just how much I love weaving and whether or not I want to buy a loom (the answer being yes!).

Having taken the workshop, I feel a confidence in knowing which loom I want and also confidence being able to use a loom! I loved finding out how to do different types of patterns, though I didn't make a sampler of patterns like most people did, as I also wanted to come away with a scarf: something I could wear, so I noted those patterns I liked and plan on practicing once I get my own loom. These 2 days were such a treat and gave me a solid idea of the expanse of weaving and which areas of it I wasn't to explore.... So if you are simply wanting to have a play, or wanting to explore weaving as a more in depth hobby, Kate and Jessamy can support you. They do a range of courses from a simple scarf weaving, to yarn spinning, to this more intensive 2 day course, and are about to offer an even wider class over 8 weeks that does all of the above! I can't recommend them highly enough!

Lynn, this is such an amazing review and left us both feeling a bit emotional! This is how we want our workshops to be, so people feel they are able to produce exactly what they want. We're so pleased you enjoyed it and thank you for taking the time to leave such a wonderful message. I'm sure our paths will cross again - there were certainly lots of ideas bandied about and we can return the compliment x

  5. Deborah (verified owner)

Really enjoyed the course. It was great to learn to warp the loom and try out lots of different stitches. There was also plenty of time to practice and improve our technique. Cathy and Jessamy were unfailing patient! A lovely couple of days.

A fantastic 2 day workshop that helped me go from literally 0 knowledge on weaving to making a complete item! Both Cathy and Jessamy were incredibly helpful and patient, assisting with everyone at different stages of the process.

The workshop focused on the complete process from start to finish, including preparing to warp the loom and several beautiful pattern techniques like warp/weft floats, pick up sticks, etc. The end result was a wonderful piece that showed clearly all the techniques I had tried so I will be looking forward to trying it out on my own loom soon enough!

Cathy's extensive knowledge on fibres, yarn and weaving was also fantastic! I greatly look forward to being able to attend more workshops with them 🙂

    • Catherine Wright (store manager)

Thank you Abbie for leaving this review, we really appeciate it and we're so pleased that you enjoyed it and also intend to continue weaving. Your woven piece was really beautiful

Cathy and Jesame were such great hosts/teachers. Down to earth, friendly, and knowledgeable. They put us at ease immediately and created a very supportive learning environment. They looked after us through the days with refreshments and guided us soon responsively through the weaving. Would thoroughly recommend this brief course.

    • Catherine Wright (store manager)

Thank you Kerry, we're so pleased you felt comfortable and looked after on the course. And your weaving was beautiful. I really hope you continue. Thanks for taking the time to leave a review

  8. Helen Ronald (verified owner)

I had the most wonderful two days on this course and learned so much. I had never touched a loom before but came away with enough knowledge and confidence to continue my weaving journey. Cathy and Jessamy are so patient and helpful and let you learn at your own pace. I can’t recommend this course highly enough.

    • Catherine Wright (store manager)

    • Catherine Wright (store manager)

  10. Francesca (verified owner)

I signed up to the workshop to get my rigid heddle loom going.
The workshop did exactly that, but on top of it I got lots of tips and hints in a great atmosphere. We made a scarf (still on my loom because I wanted to make it longer), and now I want to do more 🙂
Cathy and Jessamy (there was another girl but I may spell her name wrong… Ethany?) were great and very helpful, so it is quite likely that they’ll see more of me. I recommend this workshop to people who want to have a go at spinning.

    • Catherine Wright (store manager)

We're so pleased you enjoyed it Francesca we loved spending time with you. Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback too. Looking forward to seeing you again
