About our venues:

Hare Hill is a small traditional Lakeland hill farm which can be traced back to the early 18th Century. Although the house has earlier origins, it was rebuilt in 1907. The farm buildings date from the late 19th Century, since when they have remained unchanged.

Hare Hill is currently run as a sheepholding for approximately 140 Swaledale ewes, and has 30 acres of wildflower meadows cut in the summer for hay, and supporting a large population of skylarks. In the Second World War Hare Hill was used as a training farm for the Womens’ Land Army.

In 2006, Julian and Vanda Lambton bought the farm and have since embarked on a series of environmental projects, supported by a Higher Level Stewardship Scheme, including woodland planting, creation of orchards and a pond, wall and hedgerow restoration. The land is managed with minimal intervention to promote biodiversity. A happy bi-product of these projects is that we have a new population of hares breeding successfully on the farm, some of which are regularly seen around the barns.

Cathy was very helpful and nothing was too much trouble I recommend this to anybody. It was easy to park and the parking charge for 12 hours was £5 right nearby. Very friendly very unknowledgeable thank you so much I thoroughly enjoyed myself

    • Catherine Wright (store manager)

Thank you Tricia, I really enjoyed it too. I hope you continue to have many hours happy spinning

  6. Meg C. (verified owner)

Even though I was very slow at everything with my lefthand not having any fine moor skills after my stroke. Cathy was very patient with me and went over my drafting technique a few times. I ran out of time to play, so Cathy did it for me. I am happy to have done the course as I was booked on originally in March 2020 and that was cancelled obviously due to the pandemic. Very enjoyable day. I had lunch in the Ryder cafe with Cathy and another attendee.
