Description
Friday 16th February, Liverpool
Monday 4th March, Modern Yarn, Formby
25th April, Black Sheep Wools*
Courses run from 10am till 4pm
What's involved in our Weave a Scarf Workshop?
Weave your own unique Scarf using gorgeous hand-dyed yarns on this weaving workshop**
On the course you will learn:
- how to decide which yarn suits which heddle
- which yarn is suitable to weave with
- how to work out how much yarn you will need for your project
Complete beginners are welcome in this Weave a Scarf Workshop where you will use rigid heddle looms to weave on. You can even choose which colours you'd like us to warp your loom with so you can get weaving on the day.
** You can choose to use Naturally Dyed Yarns with colour packs to work from. The natural dyeing process takes longer and the dyes are more expensive so this choice costs slightly more but we're sure you'll agree the colours are incredibly beautiful. If you'd like to do this, click here
You're welcome to bring along any textured yarns or ribbons to add to your work but there will be plenty of choices of yarns and colours if you don't.
We teach in different venues so book your place by paying for the course. We will then send you a confirmation of your booking and ask which date you would like to come to.
Then you'll receive a choice of yarns to choose for your warp and on the day there will be loads of different yarns, solid colours, semi-solids, speckles, etc. for you to tuck in to.
When you book, I will send a confirmation email and ask which venue you'd like to come along to
The day will run from 10-4

I have been lucky enough to take a number of workshops with Lazy Kate Textiles including beginners spinning, colour confidence, dyeing and weaving. All workshops have been very well organised with excellent resources. Cathy is a fantastic and thoughtful teacher who explains things really well and anticipates the things people commonly find difficult. She is very patient and encouraging. Although the workshops have been with many different people, the groups are always the perfect size - not too big to ensure there is individual help but big enough so that it's a lovely social time too.
I would highly recommend these workshop

So in between lockdowns etc I did a workshop held at the tea rooms, it was small and I felt safe. I’ve never done weaving before and it was explained very thoroughly. Jess and Sofia were very professional but friendly and helpful! I produced a lovely scarf. Definitely would recommend anyone to have a go as it’s very relaxing and enjoyable. Also it was an opportunity to meet some new people. Thanks

Thank you Joanne, that's wonderful to hear. We're glad you enjoyed it.

I’ve had quite a few workshop sessions with Cathy; spinning, weaving and dyeing including several 121 sessions, 1 over zoom to sort out my tension when spinning. Cathy and her team have been amazing; kind, calm in the face of some setbacks, very enthusiastic and incredibly knowledgable. I have since had several 121 follow up sessions to sort out the warping up of my Rigid Heddle loom. I cannot recommend Lazy Kate Textiles too highly. The staff are professional and thoughtful.

I was taught to spin by Cathy, and went back for a lesson on plying. She was very patient and let me go at my own pace. I’ve never looked back. Great skill to have. Thank you

Brilliant day, and a gorgeous scarf at the end of it! Excellent tuition got us started right away, so we made really good progress and made wearable, fabulous scarfs. And now I might buy a loom 😆

We were a group of 5 and had a lovely day, Jessamy was friendly and helpful. We also enjoyed the lovely refreshments provided through the day. The day went very quickly and we were all really pleased with our efforts at weaving. Our only disappointment was that the finished items were not long enough to be able to wear. Did we talk too much, not weave fast enough.... or even both?!? Thank you for the experience.
